FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CHAPS Academy serves children, youth, adults, and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral difficulties that are affecting their ability to be productive and successful at home, in school, or in the community. CHAPS' equine program can serve children as young as four.

How are services paid for?
Families are billed on an ability to pay basis. No one is turned away due to an inability to pay. The cost per 50 minute session is $125.00. Some insurance companies may be willing to pay for the psychotherapy portion of services.

What can CHAPS (equine sessions) do for youth and families that other services cannot?
CHAPS utilizes horses in the counseling process offered to youth and families. Through the use of horses, counseling can be more interactive, less threatening, and more fun. As a result, change can occur much faster. Youth and their families enjoy their sessions, and are much more willing to attend and participate.

What problems can be treated?
CHAPS addresses mental health issues, such as, depression, suicidal and self-destructive behaviors, anxiety, autism, attachment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficit disorder, eating disorders, as well as other disorders.

Where does treatment take place?
Sessions are held at CHAPS Academy's barn, located at N5367 Mayflower Road, Shiocton, WI. Traditional outpatient therapy (office) sessions are also provided at our satellite offices in Appleton (300 N. Woods Edge Dr., Suite 102) and Kaukauna (2416 Crooks Ave).
