A pilot program "Hope Lives" was funded by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in 2004-2005. This program served 11 teenage girls, and our findings were unbelievable. All the girls referred to "HOPE LIVES", had an extensive history of Mental Health Counseling and Psychiatric Treatment, and each girl had at least one inpatient hospitalization and up to 36 hospitalizations in the last 4 years for self-mutilating and suicidal behavior. Our preliminary results are amazing. 100% of the girls who started the program finished it, 100% of the girls were not re-hospitalized, and have not been re-hospitalized since completion of the program, and 100% of the girls treated report a significant decrease in self-destructive and depressive symptoms.
CHAPS Academy provides a 6-month equine assisted counseling program to youth that are at risk for suicidal and self-harming behaviors.
Our "HOPE LIVES" program offers an intensive outpatient counseling program for youth and their entire family. 2 sessions a week are provided, along with county, school and community collaboration. Opportunities for Community Service are offered, and the ability to participate in Leadership Training Seminars. Although current programming is targeted at teenage girls, services for younger children and adolescent boys is also available.
